EXPRESS YOUR INNER NARG

We are excited to release the newest tee shirt in our line today for preorder: "Spirit Animal" is a unisex tee available at TaverenTees.com/spiritanimal

Now, we know technically the closest anyone comes in The Wheel of Time to a spirit animal is Perrin and the wolves. But who doesn't feel a little Trolloc-y sometimes? And, of course, there is a story behind the making of this shirt.

Alan Romanczuk, part of Team Jordan and assistant to Robert Jordan, has been working feverishly on the forthcoming The Wheel of Time Companion, due out this fall. For a while, he was spending a lot of his time compiling information on Trollocs. The team was under a lot of stress, and so Alan found his way to a masseuse with "shaman abilities"  (a woman unfamiliar with WoT) who often reads people's auras. As she looked at Alan, she said she could see around him strange, frightening creatures. Apparently, the Trollocs had followed him out of the office. Of course, once this story was relayed back to us at Ta'veren Tees, we felt it was only appropriate Alan had a shirt declaring his spirit animal is a Trolloc. His shirt went over well with Harriet and the crowd at JordanCon, and the rest is history.

The "Spirit Animal" shirt is 100% preshrunk, lightweight cotton and available on an adult unisex tee. Preorders will ship as soon as it is ready by June 30th. All other items (except costumes, jewelry, and art of Paul Bielaczyc) ordered at the same time will be held and shipped at the same time as the preorder item.

Make sure to use coupon code TAMLIN15 for 15% off your entire order at www.TaverenTees.com (www.TheWheelofTimeStore.com), good through June 21!

STAINED GLASS, BANDANAS, AND CAEMLYN SOUVENIRS

We at Ta'veren Tees are excited to release some new products to WoT fans, all of which debuted at JordanCon 7 this year. All can be found in the Featured Products section of our site.

The Queen's Blessing Tee Shirt
"The nearer they came, though, the clearer the instructions, until at last they stood before a broad stone building with a sign over the door creaking in the wind. A man kneeling before a woman with red-gold hair and a crown, one of her hands resting on his bowed head. The Queen's Blessing." -The Eye of the World, Chapter 26

Traveling through Caemlyn? You might want to stop at The Queen's Blessing for a meal and souvenir, or just pick up this tee from our store. The shirt is available in both men's/unisex style and women's fitted style. The art for this shirt was created by guest artist Edsel Arnold. It is printed on 100% preshrunk cotton and is available for $24!

Each purchase of The Queen's Blessing Tee comes with a free Queen's Blessing coaster, too!

Bandana of the Red Hand
You'll follow Lord Mat wherever he calls, right? Well, if you're ready to prove it, you might want to snag a Bandana of the Red Hand. The bandana features several verses of "Jak o' the Shadows" and can be rolled to show "Band of the Red Hand" when wrapped around your arm.

Stained Glass Dragon Banner
Do you walk in the Light? Catch a little bit more light with this handcrafted, stained glass version of Rand's chapter icon, also known as the Dragon Banner. The red glass used was specifically chosen to look like dragon scale. The piece measures just over two feet wide and looks gorgeous in the Light. Only four are available; each numbered and signed by glass artist Barbara Cook. You can get yours here.

Signed, Limited Edition Prints
And finally, you can also grab some signed, limited edition prints by Ariel Burgess. These include the "Veiled Aiel" and "Moiraine Damodred" prints, size 11"x14". These are extremely limited, so if you want one, be sure to get one now!

THE WHEEL OF TIME ART OF EDSEL ARNOLD NOW AVAILABLE

Ta’veren Tees is excited to be working with licensed The Wheel of Time artist Edsel Arnold. Edsel’s unique WoT art captured the eye of Harriet McDougal (Robert Jordan’s editor/widow) when his “Selene” art won Judge’s Choice at JordanCon 2013. Since then, he has been expanding his WoT collection and is working on brand new (and fantastic!) pieces for an upcoming project for Ta’veren Tees. Make sure to keep an eye on our blog, Facebook, and Twitter for more news on that upcoming project! And, you can buy "Pink Ribbons" and "Selene" at:
www.TaverenTees.com/pinkribbons and www.TaverenTees.com/seleneprint

In all of his work, Edsel melds aspects of Art Nouveau, Beaux Arts, and Viennese Secessionism into a unique personal style intent on beauty of line. Get to know more about Edsel and his style, as well as his love for WoT here!

TT: What got you into reading WoT in the first place?
EA: I was friends with someone on a collectibles board and she found out I was into the fantasy genre but couldn't find anything new to read.  Her boyfriend was reading the WoT books and had her hooked, so she suggested I try them.  After she found out he cheated on her, she broke up with him -and the series - but I've been hooked ever since!

TT: What made you decide to begin drawing characters from WoT?
EA: As an Architectural Designer, I've done a lot of watercolored architectural/interior illustrations, but I've always harbored a desire to be a fantasy illustrator.  A few years ago I decided I needed to push myself toward that goal, and I made myself paint a scene from the book to show Harriet and Brandon at an Atlanta book signing event,  just to see what kind of reaction I got and if I was headed in the right direction for myself artistically.  I just loved the WoT, so it was a natural subject!

TT:  Why draw the Forsaken first and mainly, so far?
EA: Actually I'm 3 good for 3 bad, alternating Mat/Tylin, Selene, Nynaeve, Graendal, Birgitte, Semirhage.  I've really painted characters that intrigue me the most. But I have OCD, so I'll have to complete the Forsaken set!  The real question for me is why do I seem to keep painting men in submissive roles?

TT: Why have you chosen to mainly work in the art nouveau style? What attracts you to it and why do you think it’s a good fit for the Wheel of Time pieces you’ve done?
EA: I'm really a designer, more than a painter, and I'm really drawn to styles that are also architecturally related: Art nouveau, art deco, Viennese Secessionism, and Moorish and Byzantine patterns.  Linework is really important in all these styles. It's why I like comic art, as well.

TT: For the “Selene” piece, why go with Selene instead of “Lanfear?”
EA: Because that's how we are introduced to her, and she's so intriguing at first. Is she good? Is she bad?  When she's Lanfear, I'm just trying  to figure out her angle, but I never trust her.  Also, I wanted to do something Art Nouveau and Selene fit in so many ways.  I don't think you could just change the label on this. I'd picture Lanfear completely differently.

TT: So many people choose to show Mat’s warrior/Son of Battle’s side. For the “Pink Ribbons” piece, why did you choose to portray that time in Mat’s storyline?
EA: This is the painting I took to the book signing.   I hoped it would make Harriet smile.  Mat grew into one of my favorites mainly because he's just plain fun, yet loyal and good in spite of himself. This scene shows one of his most fun off-screen moments.  Plus, with his unfair luck, it's a riot to see him off balance. Their relationship kept me amused, so I loved  that he's really loyal to Tylin. It's hard to believe Mat actually irritated me in the first few books.
